Alberta's Scientific Heroes

Agricultural Heroes

Threshing, Sturgeon Valley, n.d.From the Noble Blade to the sugar beet harvester, Alberta's past is filled with innovations in the agricultural industry. Why? Because agriculture is a very important industry in Alberta! Also, agriculture is different in Alberta than any other province. The soil and weather conditions found in Alberta are unique and are not exactly the same in any other province. So, in many cases, farmers in the province were forced to invent new methods and machines to harvest the land—after all, nobody knows Alberta farming better than Alberta farmers!

In this section, you can browse through the biographies of a few people who have made a difference in the agriculture industry in Alberta. For more information on this topic, or to nominate someone you know, visit the Alberta Agricultural Hall of Fame!
