In this section, we will look at the role Elders play in their communities, and how they have helped to renew and perpetuate the traditions and spiritual beliefs of their peoples.

The first section will focus on Elders’ contributions to society— traditional, political, and cultural. It will explore the vital role that Elders play in maintaining languages and spiritual beliefs and practices, as well as the knowledge they pass on in the areas of education, arts and crafts, health and wellness, and sports and recreation.

Though it is not widely known, it is estimated that between 7,000 to 12,000 Aboriginal soldiers fought for Canada in the Korean War and in World Wars I and II. The second section is devoted to these "forgotten soldiers", and honours the last of Alberta’s remaining Aboriginal veterans.

Last but not least, we will take a look at the lives of urban Aboriginal Peoples today.
