CJSR

CJSR's programming is a diverse mixture of news, current affairs, and—of course—music. Since broadcasting its first minute of music to the general public on January 7, 1984, CJSR's programming offered an alternative to mainstream radio. CJSR features the most eclectic selection of music on Edmonton's airwaves: folk, jazz, blues, rock, reggae, hip-hop, techno, classical, ethnic, gospel, and everything in between. CJSR's programming focuses on issues that are either ignored or marginalized by mainstream media. CJSR also broadcasts University of Alberta Pandas and Golden Bears sports.

CJSR is a place where people of any age can receive "hands-on" experience in radio broadcasting. There are volunteer opportunities ranging from board members to DJs and on-air hosts, technicians, engineers, and promoters and organizers of CJSR events. Most come to CJSR to learn to express themselves, to contribute special talents and energies in an atmosphere where opportunities for innovation and creativity abound.
