Twin Engines

CF-18 HornetThe CF-18 is a supersonic tactical fighter that is used to gain air superiority. The aircraft was developed to provide superior speed and height.

Two General Electric F404 low bypass turbofans produce 14,580 kilograms of thrust allowing the CF-18 to reach speeds up to Mach 1.8.

Using twin engines, the CF-18 Hornet has an operational ceiling of 15,000 metres. The Hornet has a range of 3,704 kilometres, but it can go much further with air-to-air refuelling.

The two engines make the F-18 safer to fly than aircraft with just one engine.
