Annie May Jackson
In 1912 Annie May Jackson became the first female police officer in Canada. She was appointed to the Edmonton Police Department as a Constable and was given the task of helping young girls and women uphold high morals and manners. She died at the age of 80 in Edmonton, after being hit by a car while crossing the street. Since then an Edmonton neighbourhood, road, park, and most recently a school, have been named in her honour to preserve her legacy.
