Expansion of Services

The new services included a catalogue introduced in January of 1973 to replace the daily perforated listing sheets. In 1978 the board of directors decided that computerization should play an important role in the operations of the Board. Bill Colman of Colman Organ and Co. was retained as a computer consultant. Computerization of operations began in July 1979 when the membership department converted all of their records. This enabled the Board to produce mailing labels, to update the membership roster quickly, and to provide immediate answers to inquiries regarding the status of agents and sales representatives.

In August 1979, work began on the computerization of the MLS® functions. Thereafter, statistics could be compiled quickly and accurately. The first computerized Daily Bulletin was produced by December. By April 1980 accounts receivable had been entered on the computer system. Norm Bulat became the manager of the new computer systems department.
