Bob Allen

Bob Allen, a musical REALTOR®, was born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan in 1920, where lived for 20 years and taught himself how to read and play music.

In 1940, Allen joined the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was stationed at a flying training school in Calgary in 1942, and later posted to Tofino, B.C. Because of his musical talent, he was then moved to Vancouver and put in charge of the station dance band until he was discharged in 1945.

After the war, Allen returned the Calgary. He initially became a life insurance salesman with Dominion Life, but an acquaintance convinced him that real estate would be a more profitable business. So in 1948, Bob Allen worked for Frank Freeze Co. Real Estate. Meanwhile, Bob formed a dance band in which he played lead clarinet and saxophone.

Bob Allen eventually formed his own company, Allen Agencies General Insurance and Real Estate. He also joined the Calgary Real Estate Board at this time. While being a REALTOR®, Allen also continued his musical career, his dance band often performing at Calgary Real Estate Board events. His musical business also put him in touch with many clients, contributing to his profitable 60 year career in real estate.

Although Bob Allen still retains his real estate agent license, now he devotes most of his time to singing and swimming.
