Wall Phone

Wall telephoneThe wall telephone became more compact when systems provided power from the telephone office, and batteries were no longer needed in each phone. A dial was added for use with automatic switching equipment, and a combined handset replaced the separate transmitter and receiver components. Early models still had wood housings but Bakelite plastic was introduced in the 1930s.
