Red Deer and District Real Estate History

Aerial City of Red Deer in 90s.

Today, Central Alberta is a prosperous region with strong oil, natural gas, and agricultural industries, and the economic capital of Central Alberta is Red Deer, Alberta’s third largest city. But Central Alberta began merely as a series of stops on the Calgary-Edmonton Trail.

These articles on Central Alberta’s real estate history document the growth of Red Deer, Wetaskiwin, Camrose, Ponoka, Lacombe and Stettler, from the boom times at the turn of the century, to the recession that spanned two world wars, and the post-war construction that modernized Central Alberta. At the heart of this story is Central Alberta’s real estate industry, which spawned the Central Alberta REALTORS® Association.
