Arts are the expression of a culture’s values.
Franco-Albertans combine a rich European heritage, complete with
religious festivals of renewal and celebration, with traditional
dance, theatre, music, and literature. A hard and sometimes
bitter battle was fought to preserve French culture and identity
when it was in decline in the late 19th century through to the
mid and late 1900s, and this section explores some of the
traditions, people, and organizations that supported French arts
and culture to keep them vibrant in today’s Alberta.
