Amadou Lake

The name “Amadou Lake” was recorded by the DLS as early as 1913. It was also at one time known as “Touchwood Lake.” “Touchwood” is a “readily flammable, especially soft substance into which wood is changed by fungi, used as tinder” (OED). Amadou is another name for tinder made from dried fungi.
