Tsuu T'ina Reserves

At Treaty Seven (1877) the Tsuu Tina were lumped in on a reserve with Blackfoot and Blood Indians. Chief Bull Head objected and after a brief stand-off (the North-West Mounted Police refused rations) the tribe was later granted their own reserve which now borders Calgary (Dempsey, p. 37 and Palmer, p. 43). Says Dempsey: Despite living next to Calgary "the Sarcees clung to their old life. Much of their time was spent hunting, particularly along the mountains, and in the 1890s many of them wintered in the foothills, far from Calgary's influences."

The official name for the Tsuu Tina reserve is still, Sarcee I.R. # 145.
