Kakwa Mountain

Category : Mountain

For a short period of time, this feature, 2295 metres in altitude, was known as Mount Cross. The Alberta-British Columbia Interprovincial Boundary Commission recorded the name Kakwa Mountain in 1924. The name already had been suggested about a decade before by S. Prescott Fay, who spent three seasons in the Canadian Rockies, determining the ranges of the big game between Lake Louise and the Peace River. It takes its name from the nearby river.
