Aetna

Category : Hamlet

John W. Taylor, a Mormon general authority from Salt Lake City, Utah, named Aetna in 1893 because one of the surrounding hills reminded him of the volcanic mountain in Sicily. The hill to which Taylor was referring is now locally known as “Buffalo Hill.” The Aetna post office was established on this site in 1900 and operated until 1960. Now a hamlet, it is under the jurisdiction of Cardston County.
