Acadia Valley

Category : Hamlet

A post office was established here in 1911. It was named by the area’s settlers who came from Nova Scotia. “Acadia,” or Acadie in French, was the name given by France to all New World Atlantic seaboard possessions from the early seventeenth century to mid-eighteenth century. This included present-day Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and parts of Quebec and Maine. The name is possibly derived from the Abenaki, Maliseet, or Mi’kmaq language and has been translated as “nothing here.” This hamlet is located in the MD of Acadia No. 34.
