The name for the locality was officially adopted in 1947. It was named for the Albright post office which had been established in 1931. W.D. Albright (1881-1946) came to the Peace River district many years earlier from Ontario. He was an early superintendent of the Beaverlodge Dominion Experimental Farm, and was well known as a promoter of the Peace River Countrv as a good agricultural district. The post office had originally opened in 1929 under the name of Hommy, after an early settler in the area.

Approximately 48 km west north-west of Grande Prairie.
