Category : Mountain | |
James Munroe Thorington proposed the name in 1968. Adam Joachim (1875–1959) was born at Berland Lake, a descendant of the original Iroquois canoemen who came west with the NWC and HBC trader Colin Fraser (1805–1867). Well-educated, Joachim was fluent in French, English, Latin, and several Aboriginal languages, and for many years worked as a guide for trappers, traders, and outfitters, as well as trapping, hunting, and fishing on his own. Joachim also served as the lead packer for the Alpine Club of Canada when it operated in the Jasper area. |
