Asquith Municipal District # 52

This municipal district was named in 1914 after Herbert Henry Asquith, First Earl of Oxford and Asquith (1852-1928). Asquith was the Liberal Prime Minister of Britain between 1908 and 1916 and was responsible for the Parliament Act of 1911 that limited the power of the House of Lords. Asquith led Britain for the first two years of World War I and later accepted a peerage as Earl of Oxford in 1925." Astleyville (former post office),83 H/14 — Redwater,23-56-23-W4,53° 50' N 113° 20' W,Approximately 30 km north north-east of Edmonton.,"A post office operated here from May 1903 through October 1906 and was named after its first postmaster, H. Astley. The name was later changed to "Battenburg" and then to Gibbons.
