If you visit the Chamber in the early days of a new session, you may see the members
debating the government's overall plans. At the beginning of each new session, these plans
are announced in the Speech from the Throne. Following the speech, a government member
moves a motion to approve them. Here is what the motion looks like in
Hansard:
We, Her Majesty's most dutiful and loyal subjects, the Legislative Assembly, now
assembled, beg leave to thank Your Honour for the gracious speech Your Honour
has been pleased to address to us at the opening of the present session.
All members have a chance to speak to this motion and state whether they agree or disagree
with the government's plans.
