The first major event of each new session is the Speech from the Throne, which outlines the government's plans for the session. The budget is introduced to the Assembly in the Budget Address, which normally takes place within a month of session's opening. The Budget Address is the result of a long process in which government departments juggle their needs and priorities based on cabinet's guidance.
