Wetland Mixedwood Climate

A snapshot of the climate of the Wetlands Wetland WinterThe climate of this Subregion is characterized by cool, moist summers and long, cold winters.  It is generally colder than the Central Mixedwood Subregion but probably more moderate than the Subarctic or Boreal Highlands Subregions.  The average temperature between the months of May and September sits at approximately 11 degrees Celsius and the frost-free period is about 85 days.  Average annual precipitation is around 400-450 millimetres with 250-300 millimetres in the summer.  Snow cover lasts an average of 185 days per year -- one of the longest in Alberta.
