Devon, Present-Day

Today Devon is considered a young family community that is growing. As of May 2000, the population was approximately 4,808. Many people are moving to the area to retire. The town of Devon is close to Edmonton, the International Airport, and several tourist attractions.

Devon is the only community in the Edmonton region that owns and operates its own water, sanitary sewer and natural gas distribution and treatment systems.

The North Saskatchewan River provides great opportunities for fun. Devon has numerous outdoor recreation activities such as hiking, skiing, fishing, boating, gold panning, tennis, baseball, waterskiing, and camping with one of the best campgrounds in the region. Devon also features many tourist destinations such as the Devonian Botanic Garden which features floral gardens and a Japanese garden, the Canadian Petroleum Interpretive Centre located on the site of the famous oilfield, and the Rabbit Hill Ski Area.
