Habitat Fragmentation hab + i +tat, frag + men + tay + shun

A habitat is the natural or normal environment that humans, plants, and animals are found in. A human would normally be found in a house or city. A plant or animal would normally be found in the forest.

Fragmentation means the breaking of something (in this case a habitat) into many pieces.

Habitat Fragmentation means breaking up the natural environment of plants and animals. Human beings are responsible for most, if not all, the habitat fragmentation in Alberta. This happens when we build roads, buildings, dams, and towns or cities. We are breaking up the homes of plants and animals.
