Vermilion Lakes

The Vermilion Lakes are located beside the Trans Canada Highway near the town of Banff, Alberta. Little has changed at the lake since early Albertans stopped here nearly 11,000 years ago. Mount Rundle still fills the sky to the south, home to bald eagles for the past one thousand years and counting. Around the lakes, scientists have found remains of ancient campsites, as well as spear points, that date back thousands of years. So it seems that people have always enjoyed the mountain areas around Banff.
