Cheryl Croucher, Heritage Trails writer and producerCheryl's career so far has been quite diverse, encompassing the world of politics, music, the environment and, of course, radio.

Born and raised in Alberta, Cheryl from the University of Alberta with a degree in Political Science.

Cheryl was teaching piano and studying composition when a casual summer job in 1977 led to a fifteen year stint with CBC Radio and a new found career in radio journalism. During this time Cheryl established herself as a researcher, writer, producer and on-air broadcaster.

Through the 1980s, her insightful consumer commentaries were syndicated across Canada, and in 1990 she became CBC Radio's first environment commentator. Responding to public demand for more information, Cheryl was soon producing tipsheets and magazine articles, as well as travelling the province giving speeches and workshops on how consumers can be more environmentally responsible.

She has chaired Canada Trust's Friends of the Environment Board, sat on the former Environment Council of Alberta's Task Force on Economic Instruments for Waste Management, Epcor's Water Advisory Committee, and is a continuing member of Alberta-Pacific's Forest Management Task Force. In addition, she's been a judge four times for the Emerald Awards for Environmental Excellence.

Cheryl continues her media and consulting work under the umbrella of Porcupine Stone Productions which she started in 1994. She has several videos to her credit. Cheryl's involvement with CKUA Radio began with ECOFILE in 1997. In 1998, Cheryl started production on Heritage Trails, a series of 500 vignettes on Alberta history. Of late, Cheryl is producing a new series about science and research called INNOVATION ALBERTA. INNOVATION ALBERTA broadcasts on CKUA Radio at 8 pm Tuesday evenings.
