The Canada-Alberta Environmentally Sustainable Agricultural (CAESA) Agreement was a five-year, $34.3 million agreement between the governments of Alberta and Canada from 1992 to 1997.
The purpose of CAESA was to address issues related to the environmental impacts of agriculture. Priority issues included soil resources, water quality, water quantity, pollution and waste management, wildlife habitat, genetic resources, air, climate and energy.
Projects were delivered through producer groups, municipalities, native agricultural groups, applied research agencies, government agencies and universities. CAESA supported technology transfer and research on production and processing practices.
