Laine Metz Kriik

Laine Metz, one of Gus Erdman's nieces, arrived in Barons, Alberta via Sweden in 1948. In Europe was trained as a professional ballet instructor; however, upon her arrival in Canada she worked as a farm hand. Not wanting to give up on her passion for ballet, she started a 'Ladies Keep Fit' during the long winter. Later, she travelled to Lethbridge to work at the YMCA and by doing so improved her English tremendously. She later moved to Edmonton to open her own ballet studio.

Laine Metz married Edward Kriik, an electrician, and they continued to live in Edmonton.
