Denis and Rose-Alda Lajoie

Denis and Rose-Alda Lajoie

Denis Lajoie was born on October 11, 1887, in St. Flore, PQ. He ventured west in 1910 at the age of 22. Once in Alberta, he got to St. Paul where he eventually took a homestead: NE 8-58-10. He married Rose-AIda Lafreniere on August 5, 1912. Together they raised seven girls on the farm.

Denis was on of the men who helped finish the rail road tracks from Spedden to St. Paul. After retiring in 1945, Denis was too much of a busy body and could not sit around and do nothing. Thus, he decided to help some lumberjack friends in Lac La Biche. It was during this cold January of 1947 that he passed away in an accidental death at the age of 58.

His wife continued to live in St. Paul until her passing on November 22, 1979 at the age of 85. They are both buried at St. Paul
