Community Memories: Musée historique de Saint-Paul

St. Paul Cultural Centre

The Musée historique de Saint-Paul was founded in 1979 as a committee of the Saint Paul regional section of the Association canadienne-française de l'Alberta. It features artifacts, portraits, photographs and biographies related to the history of the St. Paul region. With assistance from the Alberta Museum Association, the museum has divided its contents into three distinct periods. It first deals with the town’s beginnings as a Métis colony, established and operated by Catholic missionaries, the Oblates and the Sisters of Assumption. It then moves forward in time to display elements of pioneer life, featuring photographs and artifacts used by the region’s first settlers. There is also a contemporary display that provides information about modern St. Paul and memorable historical events. The museum is bilingual and provides audio-visual presentations for educational purposes.
