canadian prideIn a country as geographically, economically and ethnically diverse as Canada, the concept of national identity is a popularly debated topic. This is not a huge surprise once one takes into consideration the rural and urban differences, variation in ethnic origin and limitless other factors that are a part of this vast country. 

Consequently, when one attempts to envision a uniquely "Albertan identity,"  the task is really to discover one identity within many others. There are many layers. The fact remains that a unique Albertan identity is extremely difficult to describe, as there is no singular "Albertan." Rather, the difficult-to-define Albertan is made up of a rich mix of peoples which all contribute valuable characteristics and give meaning to the Albertan identity at large.
