Settlements at Nobleford, Monarch and Granum received the earliest
Dutch immigrants to Alberta. These rural settlements were
important to the Dutch presence in Alberta. In establishing
institutions such as the Christian Reformed church, the Dutch
language and elements of its culture were maintained for following
generations. As well, when Dutch immigrants arrived in the
1920s, 1950s and 1960s, these rural communities were focal points
for new-arrivals. Here we present the story of Nobleford,
near Lethbridge.
