Automobile Heater (Patent No: 324885)

Description: WHAT I CLAIM IS:

1. In a hot air heater for automobiles, the combination of an engine, a radiator, an air heating unit mounted on the forward end of said engine, means connecting said heating unit with the jacket of said engine and with said radiator and a conduit connecting said heating unit with the passenger compartment of the automobile.

2. A heater for automobiles or the like, comprising in combination with a jacketted engine and a radiator, an air heater mounted on the forward end of said engine, means for conducting the full flow of heated fluid from said engine jacket through said heater to said radiator, means on the forward end of said heater to direct air through the heater and means on the rear end of the heater to convey heated air to the passenger compartment of the car.

3. A heater as defined in Claim 2, wherein a valve is located in said hot air conducting means at a point in the rear of the front cowling of the car through which said means passes.

4. A heater for automobiles or the like, comprising, in combination with a jacketted engine, a radiator and a fan, an air heater mounted on the forward end of said engine, a funnel-shaped conduit on the forward end of said heater and at the rear of said fan, open-ended air chambers in said heater, fluid passages about said chambers, means for conducting hot fluid from, said engine jacket to said passages, means for conducting fluid from said passages to the radiator, and a conduit leading from the rear end of said heater to the compartment behind the cowel of the car.

5. A heater as defined in Claim 4 further characterized in having a longitudinal baffle to direct the flow of hot fluid through said passages.
