1. The process for producing a simulated stone slab which comprises, furnishing a container and a mold having a highly polished interior, applying a coating of catalyzed resin to the polished interior of the mold, pouring a layer of catalyzed clear thermosetting resin having a viscosity of 7 to 9 poises into the container, mixing chips of hard stone into the layer of resin, introducing the mixed chips and resin in the said mold, vibrating the mold to settle the hard stone chips and thereafter heating the mold to cure the resin.

2. The process as claimed in claim 1 wherein the mold is preheated and a parting agent is applied to the mold and allowed to dry before applying the coating of catalyzed resin.

3. The process as claimed in claim I wherein the catalyzed resin coating is allowed to dry to a rubber like consistency.

4. The process as claimed in claim 1 wherein the hard stone chips are chips of granite.
