Description: No. 365,953. Automobile Chassis Converting Means

Claim.—3. The means and method of converting an automobile chassis into a wagon which consists in removing the engine and coach work. dividing the longitudinally extending side members to form with the pairs of front wheels and the pairs of rear wheels front and rear trucks and angling said longitudinally extending side members inwardly and providing a longitudinally adjustable tongue between the front and rear trucks.

4. The means and method of converting an automobile chassis into a wagon which consists in removing the engine and coach work, dividing the longitudinally extending side members of the chassis to form with the pairs of front wheels and the pairs of rear wheels, front and rear trucks, portions of the longitudinally extending side members being angled inwardly, the inturned ends being provided with a sleeve to receive a lengthwise adjustable tongue uniting the front and rear trucks.

9. The means and method of converting an automobile chassis into a wagon which consists in removing the engine and coach work, dividing the longitudinally extending side members to form with the pairs of front and rear wheels, front and rear trucks, angling the forward portions of the side members and the rear truck inwardly, uniting the free ends of said side members with a sleeve and providing a longitudinally extending and adjustable tongue uniting said front and rear trucks, the forward truck being centrally pivoted upon the forward end of said tongue.

10. The means and method of converting an automobile chassis into a wagon which consists in removing the engine and coach work, dividing the longitudinally extending side members to form with the pairs of front and rear wheels, front and rear trucks, providing cross members extending between the side members of each truck, angling the forward ends of the side members of the rear truck inwardly, uniting the free ends of said inwardly angled portions by means of a sleeve, providing pivoting means extending centrally through one of the cross members of the front truck, providing a tongue, the forward end of which is attached to said pivoting means, said tongue extending through said sleeve, the wheel base of said wagon being rendered adjustable by providing orifices extending through said tongue and providing coupling means extendible selectively through any of said orifices and bearing against a portion of the rear truck.
