It wasn't until years later that I learned how many thousands of products
are invented and the inventions sent in for patenting, but that very few
actually come into production and only two percent of those that do
actually continue in production for any but an extremely short length of
time. I'm proud now to think of my father as a Canadian inventor right
along there with Alexander Graham Bell. His product was a success for over
30 years, from the time of its invention until the time of my father's
retirement and the closing of the store ...
Webster's Dictionary defines "chickenfeed" as slang for
"an insignificant amount of money". All the families we grew up with survived
the Depression on an insignificant amount of money. However, I think we are the only
family that can truly boast we survived the Dirty Thirties on "chickenfeed",
thanks to Dad, and Radium Laying Mash.
