Oil Extraction (Patent No: 379702)

Inventor: Diver, Daniel

Location: Calgary

Comments: N/A

Description: Having regard to the foregoing disclosure the patent of which this specification forms part confers, subject to the conditions prescribed in the Patent Act, 1935, the exclusive right, privilege and liberty of making, constructing, using and vending to others to be used, the invention as defined in claims by the patentee as follows:-

(1) The process of extracting oil from a subterranean stratum which consists in heating a portion of said stratum to vaporize the oil therein I and applying pressure to the oil vapor to force the same to the ground surface.

(2) The process of extracting oil from a subterranean stratum which consists in heating a portion of said stratum to vaporize the oil therein, applying pressure to the oil vapor to force the same to the ground surface and passing said vapor through a condenser to liquefy the same.

(3) The process as defined in claim 2 in which a portion of said oil vapor is pumped into the ground following extraction therefrom in order to exert pressure upon vapor remaining in the ground.

(4) The process of extracting oil from a subterranean stratum which consists in heating a portion of said stratum with hot fluid to vaporize the oil therein, applying pressure to said portion of said stratum in order to force said oil vapor to the ground surface, condensing the major portion of the vapor extracted from the ground and re-introducing the residual vapor into the ground.

(5) Apparatus for extracting oil from a subterranean stratum consisting of fluid heating means, means for introducing said fluid into said stratum to vaporize oil therein and means for applying pressure to said vaporized oil to force the same to the ground surface.

(6) Apparatus for extracting oil from a subterranean stratum comprising means for vaporizing oil in a portion of said stratum, pressure inducing means for forcing said oil vapor to the ground surface and condensing means for liquefying said vapor subsequent to extraction from the ground.

(7) Apparatus for extracting oil from a subterranean stratum comprising means for vaporizing oil in a portion of said stratum, pressure inducing means for forcing said oil vapor to the ground surface, condensing means for liquefying the major portion of said vapor subsequent to removal from the ground and means for conveying the residual vapor into said pressure inducing means for re-introduction into the stratum.

(8) Apparatus for extracting oil from a subterranean stratum comprising a well drilled into the stratum, heating means within said well, pump means for increasing the fluid pressure within said well, a drilling adjacent said well adapted to convey oil vapor and a condenser designed to liquefy said vapor.

(9) Apparatus for extracting oil from a subterranean stratum comprising a well drilled into said stratum, a coil within said well, means for passing heated fluid through said coil, a drilling adjacent said well adapted to convey oil vapor therethrough, condensing means designed to liquefy a portion of the oil conveyed through said drilling, pump means for introducing the residual vapor into a pressure tank, means for heating said residual vapor and further means for conveying said, residual vapor into said well.

(10) The structure as defined in claim 9 in which said well is provided with a fluid-tight casing.
