Hoof Trimmer (Patent No: 383179)

Description: (1) A tool for trimming hoods comprising a hollow metal cylinder flanged at both ends and having two similar and opposite elongated slits, a cylindrical chisel fitted loosely into the tube at the end which contains the slits, a hole bored into the upper part of the chisel through which passes a pin which also passes through the slits in the tube, a round washer which rests against the pin, a spring which is wound around the outside of the tube, one end of the said spring resting against the flange of the tube while the other end of the said spring forces the washer, the pin, and the chisel against the upper part of the slits, and a plunger fitted loosely into the upper part of the tube and resting against the blunt edge of the chisel, essentially as described.
(2) A tool such as described in Claim 1 the said spring wound around the chisel on the inside of the hollow tube.
