Inventor: Ksionzena, Joseph

Location: Calgary

Comments: N/A

Description: Having regard to the foregoing disclosure, the Patent of which this specification forms part confers, subject to the conditions prescribed in the Patent Act, 1935, the exclusive right, privilege and liberty of making, constructing, using and vending to others to be used, the invention as defined in claims submitted by the patentee as follows:-

1. A shock absorber of the type described for bicycles, motor-cycles, and similar vehicles being assembled as right and left hand units, each of which unit comprises a partially flanged cheek-plate rigidly attached to the vehicle frame in a longitudinal plane, a slidable plate lever pivotally coacting in a parallel plane with said cheek-plate, an extended , arm of said lever clamped rigidly to the hub axle of a wheel of the vehicle, said axle being connected to said cheek-plate only through said lever, a spring enclosed rod pivotally attached to said lever, the pivot point being radially rotable about pivot point of said lever, a compression spring enclosing said rod between a flange of said cheek-plate and said rod pivot point connection, a slot in said flange to slidably receive extended projecting end of said rod, a compression adjustment tie rod and stop nut for varying length of said spring to accommodate variations in applied weights, and a semi dust-proof cover plate for each said unit.

2. A helical spring shock-absorbing device of the type described in combination with a mobile vehicle, comprising a pair of flanged cheek-plates attached to the vehicle frame, radially operable plate levers pivotally attached to the outer faces of said cheek-plates, means for attachment of vehicle wheel to said plate levers, weight supporting compression springs situate between the floating plate levers and fixed flanges of said cheek-plates, spring supporting rods pivotally attached to said plate levers and slidably guided through said flanges and radially operable at their pivot points about said plate lever pivots, shock resisting springs and keeper nuts on the ends of said rods extending beyond said flanges to cushion opposing stop members of this device, compression adjustment tie rods and stop nuts for varying lengths of springs to accommodate variations in applied weights, and semi dustproof cover plates for cheek-plates and assembled mechanisms.
