Proportional Dividers (Patent No: 480782)
Inventor: Kerr, Samuel Aubrey Location: Edmonton Comments: N/A Description: THE EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION IN WHICH AN EXCLUSIVE PROPERTY OR PRIVILEGE IS CLAIMED ARE DEFINED AS FOLLOWS:
1. A proportional divider comprising a pair of crossed pivotally connected arms of substantially equal length, means for clamping the arms in an adjusted position, a flat, uniform, resiliently extensible band mounted between opposed arm ends, and at least one scale carried by said band, said band being mounted between said arm ends by means of brackets, said brackets being pivotally mounted on said am ends.
2. A proportional divider as defined in Claim 1 in which the pair of crossed arms are pivotally connected by means of a stud projecting at right angles from one of the arms and passing through a transverse bore in the other arm, and in which the clamping means comprises threading on the stud and a knob having a threaded bore designed to receive the threaded stud, Whereby the knob may be turned on the stud to clamp the pair of arms against, pivoting.
3. A proportional divider as defined in Claim 1 or 2, in which the band has a clip rigid1y attached to each of its ends, and the clips are detachably connectable to the brackets.
4. A proportional divider as defined in Claim 1 or 2, and a plurality of control knobs rigidly secured to the arms and extending therefrom at right angles.
