Grant MacEwan Elementary School

Located at 180 Falshire Drive in Falconridge, a growing community in Calgary's northeast. Incorporating the motto "We Share a Dream" into many of their daily activities the school hosts over 620 students ranging from kindergarten to grade six. School principal Lesley Lewis emphasizes respect, responsibility, and cooperation-many of the same values Grant MacEwan used to express in his speeches and written work. Grant MacEwan School is a diverse and multicultural institution of learning with approximately 60% of its students having learned English as a second language.

Built in 1988 over seven acres of land Grant MacEwan School contains three kindergarten schools, 23 regular classrooms, music room with stage, large gymnasium, and a Learning Resource Centre. Adjacent to the school is a large playing field accompanied by two creative playgrounds.

Grant MacEwan School focuses on academic success, citizenship, responsibility, and character development reflecting their namesake's own belief system. Located in the school's main hall next to the gymnasium is a large mural of Grant MacEwan honoring his legacy as a teacher, author, historian, and politician. MacEwan visited the school often and congratulated the school for its continued dedication to community spirit. Today, the school's website contains a photo of Grant MacEwan complete with a biography.
