Festivals

The Giovanni Caboto Cultural Society of Alberta was established in 1981.  The name Giovanni Caboto was adopted to emphasize the contributions of Italians to Canada. Our primary activity is Giovanni Caboto Day, (a one day festival held the last Sunday of June). The festival makes visible the ethno-cultural diversity that is a vital component of Edmonton's way of life. It is hoped that the public may appreciate this festival by participating in the various activities throughout the day.

Mission

  • To promote better understanding among people of Italian origin, encouraging social, cultural and sporting activities and to retain the heritage of all the regions of Italy and of Canada in Alberta;
  • To provide opportunities for Edmontonians and Albertans to savor, understand and share in the many aspects of the Italian culture.
