  • CATHEDRAL CHURCH OF THE REDEEMER
    This Gothic Revival building is faced in the rusticated Paskapoo sandstone typical of early buildings in Calgary and features details such as buttresses and pointe arched windows arranged in groups of three. It is the second oldest church still standing in downtown Calgary.
  • CENTRAL UNITED (METHODIST) CHURCH
    Before the June 1925 amalgamation of most of Canada’s Presbyterian, Congregationalist and Methodist Churches into the United Church of Canada, this was the Central Methodist Church, successor to the Calgary Methodist Church established by Reverend John McDougall in 1875.
  • CHRIST CHURCH ANGLICAN, 1886
    The first Anglican Church built in Fort Macleod was completed in 1885 on the present site. However, shortly afterwards it burned to the ground.
  • CHRIST CHURCH MILLARVILLE
    Christ Church was constructed in 1896 at the instigation of the Reverend Webb-Peploe, the first Anglican minister in the Millarville area.
  • CLARKE RESIDENCE
    This was the residence of Hugh Clarke, a master carpenter, builder and later, contractor, who worked on many of Red Deer's early buildings and larger residences.
  • FIFTH AVENUE UNITED CHURCH
    The year 1912 saw the construction not only of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church and St. Barnabas Anglican Church, but also Fifth Avenue Methodist Church.
  • FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH
    The original First Baptist Church was built in 1888, but was subsequently destroyed by fire. It was rebuilt in 1900, but a growing congregation and the crowding of business blocks around the original site led the congregation to decide on relocation and construction of yet another new church.
  • FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
    The First Presbyterian Church was built in 1911, and officially opened in 1912. Reverend D.G. McQueen was pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Edmonton between 1883 and 1930.
  • GAETZ MEMORIAL UNITED CHURCH
    In 1910, the Gaetz Memorial Methodist Church was opened in honour of Red Deer pioneer Leonard Gaetz.
  • GRACE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
    The Grace Presbyterian Church was built between 1911 and 1913 at 15th Avenue and 9th Street SW.
