  • AGT BUILDING
    The Alberta Government Telephones (AGT) Building was erected during the course of the construction spurt of the late 1920s.
  • BANK OF NOVA SCOTIA
    This exceptional building was designed by the famous Canadian architect, John Lyle.
  • BARRON BUILDING
    Not only was the Barron Building the first major development in downtown Calgary since the Depression, but it is perhaps the single reason why Calgary, and not Edmonton, is the hub of the Alberta oil patch.
  • BIRKS BUILDING
    The Birks Building was designed by Nobbs and Hyde, an architectural firm of national significance. Percy Nobbs, who collaborated with Cecil Burgess on the Birks Building, also designed the original master plan for the University of Alberta.
  • EATON’S STORE
    On August 29, 1939, T. Eaton Co. opened what was referred to as its million dollar store.
  • EDMONTON AUTO SPRING WORKS
    The Edmonton Auto Spring Works is first listed in the City Directory in 1924. It is probable that this building was constructed in that year.
  • FEDERAL PUBLIC BUILDING
    Although it was designed in 1930, the Federal Public Building was not actually constructed until 1955.
  • IMPERIAL BANK OF CANADA
    The Imperial Bank of Canada first opened its doors in this site in 1891. Archival photographs show that in 1892 a modest brick building housed the bank.
  • ITALIAN HALL
    The Italian Benevolent Society was formed in Lille in 1906 by seventy-two Italian miners who recognised the need for mutual assistance in times of need, sickness or death.
  • MCPHERSON FRUIT COMPANY
    The stunning black Art Deco exterior of this building is the product of a renovation carried out in 1928.
