  • BRUMPTON'S STORE
    Brumpton's store is the City's oldest building on its original site and has been associated with retail merchandising since its construction close to a century ago.

    The three storey Burn Block was erected in 1912 to provide commercial retail and office space.
  • BURNS BUILDING
    This building was constructed by and for Senator Patrick Burns who, between the years 1890 and 1928, established one of the largest meat packing and provisions businesses in the world.
  • BURY RESIDENCE
    Ambrose Upton Gledstanes Bury was born in Ireland in 1869. He received an MA degree from Trinity College, Dublin, in 1890 and came to Edmonton in 1912.

    The Stevens Building was originally built for J. Struthers in 1897.
  • CALGARY BREWERY
    The Calgary Brewing and Malting Company Ltd. was founded in 1892 by A.E. Cross and Herbert Samson (a rancher from High River), John Lineham (a Calgary lumber dealer and developer), William Roper Hull (a rancher and developer from Calgary), Duncan MacPherson (a rancher from High River), and William Cochrane (a rancher from Mosquito Creek), among others. Mr. Cross was the company president.
  • CALGARY CITY HALL
    Calgary City Hall, praised as “the most modern city hall west of Toronto,” was once the centre of a raging controversy.
  • CALGARY COURTHOUSE #2
    This was the second courthouse built in Calgary; the first had been built on the same block in 1886 by the Federal government.
  • CALGARY FIREHALL #1
    Firehall #1, despite its name, was not the first firehall in Calgary.
  • CALGARY LEGION HALL #1
    In 1915, returning soldiers world-wide began to band together, forming the Great War Veteran’s Association.
