Hutterite hut + ter + ite

Hutterites are religious groups that live in Alberta on big farms called "colonies". Most regular farms only have one family living on them. Hutterite colonies have many families living on them. All the Hutterites work together to make everything they need to survive. A colony is like a small town. Everyone has a job to do on the farm that is important. They are easy to recognize because they all dress the same. The men usually wear black pants and jackets, and the women usually wear long dresses and scarves on their heads. Hutterites are a very peaceful and extremely hard working group of people.
