When the post office first opened in March 1908, a name was required. It was decided by local residents to name the tiny locality after the only little girl living in the district whose name was Dina (Dee' na) Sand. The post office remained in operation using this name until April 1937.

Approximately 40 km south south-west of Lloydminster.
