The name for this 763.83 hectare (1887.47 acre) provincial park, created by Order-in-Council No. 1074/71 is directly related to the physical description of the lake on which it is situated. The long, narrow shape is characteristic of many glacially formed lakes.

Approximately 47 km south-east of Athabasca.
