The precise origin of the name of this point is unknown, but is probably descriptive. Biche is the French-Canadian term for elk or deer used by fur traders since at least the early 19th century. It was recorded by the Geological Survey of Canada in 1892.

Approximately 87 km south-west of Fort McMurray.
