Amisk

Category : Village

Originally established as a post office in 1908, subsequent to the survey conducted for the establishment of the Canadian Pacific Railway line, the name for this village derives from the Cree word for "beaver." The name was chosen presumably for the large population of beaver found around the Battle River area. One of the first residents of Amisk named the streets after local wildlife such as Gopher, Squirrel, Lynx and Badger.

Approximately 21 km south-east of Hardisty.
