The name for this station was officially approved 18 September 1970 and honours a World War II hero from the district, Private John Hurdy (1922-1944) of the Canadian Scottish Regiment. The original proposal from Canadian National Railways was "North Windfall"; however, at that time, qualifying terms such as North, South, etc. were discouraged. |
